What is the function of the Instrumental Case

Question words: кем? Чем?

Functions of Instrumental Case

To express “with”: use after the preposition “c” to express what you are doing: use after the verb заниматься-- чем? To express what interests you: use after the verb интересоваться-- чем?

Instrumental Case Endings:

Nouns: masc/neut: -OM/-EM feminine: -ОЙ/ -ЕЙ

-ЬЮ мать----> дочь----> ночь ----> осень ---->

What about feminine nouns ending in -ь?

Note on the verb: заниматься

The verb “заниматься” up until now answered the question “ГДЕ?”---> PREPOSITIONAL CASE NOW, you know another question word that accompanies “заниматься”--- ЧЕМ? -->INSTRUMENTAL CASE

“СВОЙ” --- “one’s own” I often spend my free time with my (own) sister Я часто провожу свободное время с (o) моей/своей сестрой.
